The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is the state's official system for academic testing. Established in 2014, it replaced the older STAR program to align with more rigorous academic standards designed to prepare students forcollege and career readiness.  

The CAASPP is primarily a computer-based assessment that measures how well students are learning the California State Standards.

The Tinsley Program (officially the Voluntary Transfer Program) is a landmark desegregation initiative in the Bay Area, created from a 1986 court settlement to integrate students from the predominantly minority Ravenswood City School District (RCSD) (East Palo Alto/Menlo Park) into wealthier, less diverse neighboring districts like Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Woodside, aiming to improve educational outcomes and reduce racial isolation for Black and Latino students, who can transfer in the early grades (TK-2) and stay until graduation
